Edward Weston a Salon Photographer?

Extracted from his bio - Uncompromising Passion

"Perhaps as early as 1912, Weston began seriously participating in the more professional world of photography. He wrote articles for publication, spoke at local camera clubs, and submitted photographs to the international competitions held by various photography associations. He won prizes and soon found an admiring audience for his well-crafted prints and for the reproductions of his work that appeared in photography journals.

International exhibitions - or salons, as they were usually called - provided photographers with outlets for their work and helped elevate photography's status as an art form."
